Here is a quick piece from LISNews about the ROI (return on investment) of public libraries. Of course, we all have a sense of the importance of our chosen field of study, but it sure is nice to find voices echoing our convictions. The trick, of course, is making sure the “movers and shakers” hear these voices too. With an election year in full swing, we ought to look for opportunities to make a place at the proverbial table for libraries. Check out ALA’s advocacy handbook for some ideas on what we can do to help people see and keep in mind how valuable libraries are for healthy communities.
And, just keep in mind that librarians are superheroes, too! (OK…nerdy ones…but super, nonetheless.)
